MBA@American is the online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program delivered by American University’s Kogod School of Business. MBA@American is designed for mid-career professionals who want to learn strategic management and communication skills that will help them advance into leadership roles.

Courses and coursework are authored by the same renowned Kogod faculty who teach on campus, and students are held to the same admissions and academic standards as their on-campus counterparts.
Through a blend of live online classes, in-person learning experiences and engaging assignments, students develop the critical skills to solve complex business. Students must earn 48 credits to complete the course, which typically takes 15 months. Students can enroll in one of four different start dates during the year.
Develop a solid foundation in each of the functional areas of business, including accounting and financial analysis, production and marketing of goods and services, management of people and organizations, and information and technology management
Understand critical interrelationships and linkages necessary for developing global business strategy, including strategies and operational issues, functional disciplines, and “hard” and “soft” skills
Appreciate the environment in which business operates, including economic, legal, ethical, and societal dimensions.
Demonstrate professional competence in oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Develop competency in the use of productivity tools and software to improve the quality and efficiency of decision making
Understand the nature of group dynamics and lead diverse work teams
The vast majority of students in the Kogod Online MBA program (98 percent) had some amount of previous professional work experience, averaging around 65 months (5.4 years).
Students in the program are, on average, 31-years old. About 51 percent of the most recent class are of minority status and roughly 48 percent of enrolled students are women.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Students must also participate in two different immersion programs in order to complete the program in which fees will vary.
Extemporaneous non-tuition fees, such as books, room, board and loan fees may also vary.
No standardized test scores or minimum professional work experience is required to apply to the program.
However, applicants to the MBA@American program must have an accredited Bachelor’s degree and submit a résumé, two letters of recommendation, an application with a fee of $100 and two essays.
Internationally born non-native English-speaking applicants must submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score.

American University has a great online MBA program that works great with my busy lifestyle of having a family and a full time career within the Marine Corps.
Overall it’s been a good experience. My experience at American University has been amazing. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration Program (Online). All the professors have real world experience and do a really good job preparing you for the future.
