AUBURN UNIVERSITY (College of education)

Overview: The M.AEd. in the special education online program at western Carolina university is designed for teachers who currently hold a degree in education and an A level license. The program itself is composed of 30-33 hours of graduate study depending on the area of licensure and student’s prerequisites.
Candidates are given an opportunity to choose from three areas of expertise, and these are, profound/severe disabilities, mild to moderate disabilities, and gifted Creative and Innovative education. Even better, those who are qualified can earn B.S. and B.A. degree can earn a teaching license and graduate degree at the same time.
The Masters of Arts in Teaching, which is also another program alongside the M.A.Ed, consists of 39-45 hours of graduate study with students having to choose from a general curriculum or an adapted one.
In addition to licensure, special education graduate programs offer teachers professional development credential in response to intervention for social and emotional behavior, creativity and differentiation and collaboration with families and professionals.

EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY
Overview: the Master of Special Education program provides students with advanced knowledge for licensed special education teachers who are interested in continuing their professional development, enhancing their professional status or becoming curriculum leaders.
Candidates can choose between two areas of emphasis: early childhood Special Education emphasis or general emphasis. The program requires 15 hours of additional special education coursework and four core courses. A student is also required to finish nine hours of advisor-approved electives.
Students may also choose thesis or non-thesis option. The thesis option requires a written thesis/ graduate project, an oral defense of the thesis and 30 hours of coursework while non-thesis option requires 36 hours and a written comprehensive exam.
